Dear Birth Mom,

We are Katie and Daryl, and it is so nice to meet you. We are incredibly grateful that you are taking the time to learn about us, and we hope to have the chance to learn about you too. Though we are not in your shoes, we imagine that the decision you are considering is as equally courageous and selfless as it is challenging and scary. And it is not lost on us that your bravery will provide us the opportunity to build the family we have been dreaming of for so long. For us, family is the most beautiful and important thing in the world, and more than anything, our dream is to become parents.

We have so much respect for the brave and loving choice you are making by considering adoption for your child. Our family is really ready to grow, and we are honored that we might have the opportunity to go on this journey together with you. No matter what you decide, we are wishing you only life’s best and are keeping you in our thoughts.

Katie is the love of my life. She is creative, kind, and funny, and I am always smiling when I’m with her. She has the ability to make our place a home that is full of love, happiness, and memories. She is passionate and caring and values spending time with family. She is always coming up with new and creative ways to spend time together, whether it’s going on an adventure like exploring a new place or something simple at home like making homemade pizzas and watching a movie for date night. Katie has a passion for crocheting and crafting and makes the most amazing things! She is full of love, and I know she will be an amazing mother.

For most of our marriage, Katie has worked in libraries, so you might not be surprised to know that our home is also full of books, including lots of fun children’s books to enjoy. One of the things she enjoyed most about working in libraries was doing storytime and crafts with local children and infants, and she is already planning out lots of wonderful memories to share with our future child.

Katie was made to be a mom, and I know she is 100% ready and committed to being the best mom there is.

Our Home

We currently live in a spacious townhouse right across the street from the beautiful college campus where we both work. We are surrounded by some incredible scenery, filled with colorful flowers, shady trees, and lots of walking paths between the old buildings. There is a 500-acre nature preserve a couple of blocks away and a children’s playground right next door. Our townhouse has four bedrooms, and we’ve already turned one of them into a nursery with a crib, changing table, and dresser. And bookshelves, of course! All of the rooms in our house have books and also have Katie’s crocheted animals scattered around. Katie’s favorite room is her craft room upstairs, which is full of yarn and all of her other crafting supplies.

Our neighborhood is very walkable and safe, with many shops and restaurants near the college. There are also lots of community events happening around, as we are just a few blocks from the weekly farmer’s market and also near the community gardens. Our neighbors also all work at the college, and there are quite a few other children in our block.

We have many friends scattered throughout NY, MA, and CT, and they often meet at our house in the middle for weekend get-togethers. We enjoy hosting everyone and cooking lots of different foods for them. This tradition started back in 2013 with Thanksgiving, which is also one of our favorite holidays to celebrate. More on that soon!

Our Pets

We love animals and have had them in our home since the first year we were married. Currently, we have two cats, Ink and Page. They were cage mates when we rescued them together from the local humane society, and they are very friendly and spoiled. They love to play and chase each other and toys around the house, and enjoy snuggling on their cat tower or in the sunbeams.
