People ask me why I chose adoption. It’s more complicated than a quick answer in line at the grocery store.  If you are reading this, you are in the shoes I was in, contemplating gifting parenthood.

I became pregnant ten years ago with twins from an assault. There were three choices before me, and I chose adoption for my boys.  I lovingly and painstakingly placed my babies into the loving arms of a couple who desired to be parents more than anything.

We have an open adoption with calls, texts, video calls, and in person visits. “Their joy heals my pain.” ~Katy

When I see their [adoptive] parents interact during visits and in photos, my heart is filled and at peace.Our relationship is built on mutual respect, clear communication, and honesty.

Hudson Hearts helped support me, my two older children, and my adoptive couple throughout my pregnancy with clear expectations of the adoption process, counseling, a case worker, and answering my countless questions.

Today, ten years later, Hudson Hearts continues supporting me and other women who made that sacrificial choice of adoption. Each year, they financially give the Giving More Through Adoption Retreat, a birth mom run support group. This reminds us that we are not forgotten nor has our role in our birth children’s lives been erased.
