Dear Birth Mother,

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for taking the time to get to know us. We know that you’re walking through a path filled with uncertainty, courage, and love, and we hope that in reading these words, you feel our deepest respect for you and your decision.

We admire your strength and the love you hold for your child – choosing adoption is a profoundly selfless act, and we are honored to even be considered.

We hope that through these pages, you will gain a genuine sense of who we are, what kind of life we live, and the love we have to give – not only to our daughter Olivia, but to your child, who we hope to welcome into our family.

No matter what you decide, please know we are holding you in our hearts. We are here to answer any questions you have for us, so please don’t be shy. We hope more than anything that we can go down this path, side by side with you.

John & Andrew Adoption Story

Our Adoption Story & Promise to You

We’ve always known we wanted to grow our family. During our first date, we talked about family and children – it was a shared dream from the beginning. We were blessed to welcome our daughter, Olivia, in 2015, but since then, we’ve experienced unexplained secondary infertility. While we considered other routes, we both felt adoption was a natural and beautiful way to expand our family.

We want you to know that adoption is deeply personal for us. Zoe’s mother is adopted, and we have always spoken about the idea with excitement. It just feels right for us.

Our promise to you is this: your child will be cherished beyond measure. They will be raised in a home that is full of warmth, stability, creativity, and love. We will speak about their story and their birth family with honesty and gratitude, and make sure they grow up knowing how deeply loved they are by you. We are also excited to learn about their past and go on this journey with them. We see every aspect of this experience as an opportunity to expand our family: from size, to new culture, to new ideas, and different ways of perceiving the world. That is a child’s gift to a parent, and we cannot wait to experience this again.

We also promise to respect your wishes for an adoption plan at every turn. We would be honored to take this journey with you and welcome you into our hearts.

About Us

We met as classmates at the University of Lugano in Switzerland, but didn’t connect until a few years later when we were both living in New York City. Edoardo reached out, and after a few dates, we quickly realized that this was something special. Our relationship has been a partnership from the start – we support one another in all that we do, from our careers, challenges, dreams, and to now, the everyday joy of raising Olivia together.

Our close friends would likely say we are very adventurous and always up to something new. In fact, we have renovated two apartments ourselves, two houses, and rebuilt a barn, all while still finding time for family fun. We truly enjoy learning to do new things!

About Zoé

Written with love by Edoardo

Zoé is a force of nature in the best possible way. She is half American/half Swiss and grew up between the United States and Europe. She speaks four languages (English, French, German, and Italian)! She is incredibly driven and has built a career she loves while balancing being an involved and present mother. After spending 13 years in the real estate world, she is now a managing partner for a top team in NY, but works entirely from home and has an incredibly flexible schedule. There is not a day that goes by that we don’t acknowledge how fortunate we are for this.

Zoé’s favorite days are when she is out riding with Olivia or tending to something on the farm. Her love for horses began in childhood and has remained a cornerstone of who she is. She trains, rides, and bonds deeply with each of our horses.

Mostly, though, Zoé is an amazing mother. She is endlessly creative, turning everyday moments into adventures. She sets firm boundaries with warmth and always makes Olivia feel safe, loved, and heard. I know how much room is in her heart for your baby and how ready she is to welcome another bundle of joy.

About Edoardo

Written with love by Zoé

Edoardo has a calm confidence and is extremely trustworthy. He grew up between Switzerland, Italy, and the U.S., which gave him a love for cultures and languages (he speaks English, Italian, French, German, and some Spanish). He works in business development for a tech company that specializes in healthcare. He works remotely, which means he is home for breakfast, lunch, after-school chats, and family dinners.

He is passionate about cycling. His idea of a great day is a long bike ride with friends, followed by grilling dinner with the family. He also enjoys fishing, woodworking, and has a knack for building and refurbishing things – our barn, the deck, some of the house; with Zoé’s eye for design and her help, he built them all. On weekends, he can often be found either around the surrounding mountains on his bike or tinkering in the workshop, with Olivia handing him nails or “inspecting” the progress.

As a father, he is loving, involved, and principled. He tries to teach by example, showing Olivia what kindness, respect, and hard work look like. He loves taking Olivia on summer trips to Italy to explore his heritage.

I know how ready Edoardo is to become a father all over again, and I can’t wait for him to share his love.

Sweet Olivia

Olivia is our 10-year-old daughter, and she is truly the heart of our home. She is artistic, warm, observant, and deeply empathetic. She loves animals (especially the baby goats!), crafting, drawing, riding horses, and playing games with her friends. She is happiest when she is outside – whether it’s helping in the garden, collecting eggs, or racing around the field with the dogs.

She is also a very nurturing soul. When she is around younger children, she naturally takes their hands and shows them things. She has always asked to be an older sibling. When she found out we were planning to grow our family through adoption, her eyes lit up. “I’m going to teach them how to ride and how to draw,” she said. She is already preparing books to read to your baby and knitting a blanket for them.

We are so excited to watch Olivia grow into the role of the older sister. We know she is ready, and your child will always have the unconditional love, not just from us, but from a big sister.

We live on a small farm in the Catskill Mountains of New York. It is incredibly peaceful, surrounded by nature, and full of life, both human and animal. Our house is modern and cozy, with big windows and a fireplace that keeps us warm through snowy winters. The heart of our home is the kitchen, where we gather to turn the produce of our garden into delicious ingredients, to cook meals together, and to host friends.

Our property includes pastures, a barn, a vegetable garden, and some more land! The space offers children the kind of freedom we cherished growing up, where there is space to run, build, imagine, and explore.

The local town has a wonderful school and a strong sense of community. Olivia has been in school here for a couple of years, and for the first time in our lives, we feel like we are part of a community that we can call home. When we go to the local restaurants, we always bump into friends, and the school is a very nurturing, small space. We believe the term it takes a village to raise children was coined here because everyone is always happy to take the kids to the pond or a local museum, or even Broadway for a show. It is truly a lovely place to raise a family.

Our Animals

Animals are an essential part of our lives and of our family. We have five cats and two dogs who share our home and are especially cuddly on chilly nights. Outside, we have four horses (Margot, Kingsley, Ziggy, and Solei), two goats, a flock of chickens, two geese, and a couple of ducks.

Margot is our first and oldest mare. She is gentle, steady, and always patient with Olivia’s friends. She taught Olivia how to ride and adores children.

Kingsley, who came next, is an amazing horse – strong and elegant with a funny personality.

Ziggy is our giant-in-the-making, sweet-natured goofball with the kindest eyes.

Solei, our newest addition, is a little Arabian mare who we hope will become Olivia’s partner in riding.

Zoé wakes up early, rain or snow, to tend to them, and she brings Olivia along, teaching her responsibility and compassion. Both of them sing and discuss life together while taking care of the many personalities on the farm.

Caring for the animals is a family affair – feeding, grooming, cleaning stalls, collecting eggs, and even naming baby chicks. We believe these experiences teach responsibility and the importance of every living thing.

We are incredibly lucky to have a strong network of family and friends who support and love us. Zoé’s mother lives just 15 minutes away and is a huge part of our lives. Olivia calls her almost daily to share little updates, and we see her several times a week. She will play a vital role in your child’s life as well. Zoé’s dad lives in Switzerland and visits once per year. He calls Olivia every Sunday to speak with her about his golf tournaments and to catch up on what is happening in Switzerland.

Edoardo’s dad lives in Italy, and his mom and sister live in Switzerland.  We stay connected with regular calls and visits each summer, when we travel to Italy to spend time with his father and extended relatives.

Everyone has been incredibly supportive of our decision to grow our family through adoption, and they are beyond excited to welcome (and spoil) a new little one!

Holiday & Traditions

We celebrate a blend of American, Swiss, and Italian traditions. Christmas is a big deal in our home, with handmade decorations, music, and baking galore. We love Halloween and always go all out with costumes and pumpkin carving. Each birthday is an event, with big parties for all our friends.

We also love creating our own traditions, including Sunday Morning Eggs and Bread Breakfast. It is our dream to continue making new traditions as a family of four.

We hope this glimpse into our lives shows how much love, joy, and intention we bring to parenting. We don’t have all the answers, but we are committed to being the kind of parents who listen, grow, support, and love unconditionally.

Thank you again for taking the time to learn about us. We see you, we honor your strength, and we promise that if you choose us, your child will grow up knowing they are unconditionally loved by both you and us.

All our love,

Zoe, Edoardo & Olivia
